The irregular menstruation occurs by hormonal problems that cause changes in the quantity of menstrual blood, in the duration of the hemorrhages and in the cycles of appearance. It’s common in stages of hormonal reorganization (menopauses, adolescence) and can due to a deficit or excesses in the sexual hormones. The majority of women have menstruations with different periods in the normal time of 28 days, generally between the 21 and 35 days. When the cycle exceeds the 6 weeks of duration, it’s already considered irregular, although it’s not worrying in the first years of the menstruation because passes some time until the cycles are regulate. The cycles unusually long can be oligomenorrheas (a number excessively low of menstruations a year); when it lasts less than 24 days, it’s known as polymenorrhea; or else, the amenorrheas (absence of the menstruation). The most usual reason of amenorrhea, if you always have had a regular period, is pregnancy. But also it’s related with the changes in the diet, an excess of physical activity or very marked stress. When the menstruation is irregular, it’s impossible to predict the moment of the ovulation and therefore, very difficult to avoid or get to be pregnant.

They are known some causes of the irregular menstruation; one of them is when the menstruation is irregular and occasional, which is produced by hormonal problems, emotional factors associated to stress situations (frights, anxiety, worries, anguishes, etc.). It’s corrected alone without any medical treatment. The second cause is of permanent irregularity, produced by some disease (diabetes, anemia, thyroids diseases, hyperprolactinemia, etc.) or else by an inappropriate alimentation and must be diagnosed and treated first the disease which originates it to regularize the menstrual cycles
